Rebels Set To Host Some Of The Nation's Best Starting Sunday

15-team Southern Highlands Collegiate includes five of the top-10 teams in the country, coverage to include live streaming for first time and individual champion will receive exemption into Las Vegas' PGA Tour event.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Many of the nation's top collegiate golf programs will showcase their talent starting Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, will will take place March 3-5, at Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas (par 72, 7,510 yards).

The public is encouraged to attend the tournament and admission is free for this prestigious event that annually lures the country's best college golf teams and each year ranks at or near the top of the collegiate golf schedule in terms of strength of field.

LIVE STREAMING: For the first time, through a partnership with Golfweek and USA Today Network the Southern Highlands Collegiate will feature exclusive livestream coverage on Monday and Tuesday, March 4 and 5. PGA TOUR EXEMPTION: Also new this year, the individual champion of the SHC will receive an exemption into the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which will take place Oct. 3-6 at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

THE FIELD: The 15-team field includes five of the nation's top-10 ranked teams according to Golfweek and eight of the top 25: No. 16 Auburn, No. 9 California, Florida, No. 4 Georgia Tech, Illinois, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 14 Pepperdine, Stanford, TCU, No. 8 Texas, No. 22 Texas Tech, UCF, UCLA, UNLV and No. 3 USC.

THE FORMAT: The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will consist of 18 holes each day. Teams will play five players with the low four scores each day counted for the team total. Individual ties will be broken by sudden-death playoff.

TEE TIMES: Each day will begin off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees at 9 a.m. 

THE LINEUP: Competing for UNLV will be senior Harry Hall, freshman David Rauch, sophomore Jack Trent, junior Justin Kim and sophomore J.J. Gresco. Junior Justin Chong, freshman Chris Ebster, senior Alex Jordan and freshman Marco Trstenjak will compete as individuals.

LAST OUTING: UNLV finished fifth at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii, Feb. 21-23. Prior to that, the Rebels opened their spring season at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Florida in early February.

UNLV IN THE SHC: UNLV has won the team title at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in seven of the last 14 years. 

LAST YEAR AT THE SHC: UNLV finished fourth as a team at the 2018 Southern Highlands Collegiate at even par. The team champion was Florida with a score of 5-under. Individually, USC's Justin Suh earned medalist honors at 8-under. UNLV's Harry Hall was the tournament's runner-up at 6-under.

THIS YEAR: UNLV has recorded two second-place finishes this year: at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in September, and at the Little Rock Invitational in Arkansas in October. Harry Hall has won two individual tournament championships: at both the Tucker and LRI.

REBEL NOTES:
UNLV is the three-time defending Mountain West champions. 
- Last year's team also finished third at the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and placed in the top 20 at the NCAA Championship. 
- Jack Trent earned the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award last season, while Harry Hall and and Trent were both recognized as All-MW performers. 
- Hall was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar in July. 
- UNLV has played in a NCAA-record 30 straight regionals. 
- This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 32nd season leading the Rebel program.
