- UNLV softball freshman Jenny Bressler has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

Bressler, a Canton, Michigan native, led UNLV to a pair of wins over defending Mountain West Champion and 24th-ranked Boise State last weekend at Eller Media Stadium. Bressler allowed just one run on 11 hits in two complete game outings, which included a two-hit shutout in Sunday's series rubber match. The two-hits allowed were a season-low in 14 starts for the freshman, while it was her second complete-game shutout in her last three starts. Bressler was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, becoming the first Rebel to earn the award in back-to-back weeks since former Rebel standout pitcher Amanda Oliveto in 2013.

Over the last two weekends, the right-hander has gone 5-0 with a 0.23 ERA, allowing just one run on 21 hits in 30.2 innings pitched with 19 strikeouts and six walks. For the season, the freshman phenom is 13-2 with a 1.67 ERA and 69 strikeouts - both team-bests.

The Rebels head out on the road this weekend for their next Mountain West Series at Utah State, March 22-24, where they will be looking for their first series win over the Aggies since 2015. Series gets underway Friday at 2 p.m. PT.
