TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to BYU Saturday.
Playing a neutral-site affair at the Robson Tennis Center at the University of Arizona, the Rebels fell to 8-3 while the Cougars of the West Coast Conference improved to 5-3.
UNLV started out strong, winning the doubles point by taking both completed matches. However, BYU won four singles matches – all in straight sets – to clinch the team victory.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Aiwen Zhu, ranked 84
th in the nation in singles, got past Anastasia Abramyan at the top of the lineup, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2, to reach the 20-win mark (20-5) as a senior. That came soon after teaming with
En-Pei Huang to win the No. 1 doubles match, 6-4.
