LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV hits the road for the first time this outdoor season for a trip to Riverside, California, for the UC Riverside Spring Classic. The Rebels will compete Friday and Saturday at the meet being held at the UC Riverside Track & Field Stadium.
The majority of the meet's slate takes place Saturday; however, UNLV has three entries in the 4x200m relay (6:48 pm), and
Emma Wahlenmaier competing in the 5000m (6:56 pm) Friday. Saturday kicks off at 10:00 am with the shot put, while the track action starts at 1:00 pm with the 4x100m relay.
The Rebels opened their outdoor campaign last week with their own UNLV Spring Invitational & Sheila Tarr-Smith Multis, which resulted in seven victories and 24 top-eight finishes. One of those impressive finishes came from
Jada Hicks in the 100m hurdles (second place), which earned her the Mountain West's Track Athlete of the Week honor, in a time of 13.45. With that showing Hicks moved into third place in the program's all-time outdoor performance list, while her time ranks first in the MW and sixth in the nation, thus far, this season.
Additionally, the Scarlet & Gray got victories from
Stella Clemens (heptathlon),
Mackenna Howard (shot put),
Kaysha Love (100m),
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete (400m),
Jonon Young (triple jump) and both the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay.
