Rebels Move Up To Ninth Place After Second Round At The Goodwin

Large tournament with 27 teams being played at Stanford.

STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot 6-over-par 286 on Friday during the second round of the The Goodwin, which is being played at Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6.758 yards).

The Rebels moved up four spots in the standings and are now in ninth place out of 27 teams after the second day. Host Stanford holds a seven-shot lead at 2-under 558 after a second-round 1-under 279. No. 6 USC is second at 5-over, followed by No. 11 California in third at 6-over, No. 5 Oklahoma in fourth at 8-over and Washington rounds out the top five at 9-over.

Individually, USC's Kaito Onishi shot a second-round 4-under 66 and leads the field by two shots at 5-under 135. California's Collin Morikawa is second at 3-under, while there is a six-way tie for third at 2-under.

REBELS OF THE DAY: Senior Harry Hall and freshman David Rauch turned in UNLV's best individual rounds on Friday as they both shot 1-over 71. They each had two birdies and three bogeys during the second round.

• UNLV is the three-time defending Mountain West champions. 
• Last year's team also finished third at the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and placed in the top 20 at the NCAA Championship. 
• Trent earned the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award last season, while Harry Hall and Trent were both recognized as All-MW performers. 
• Hall was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar in July. 
• UNLV has played in a NCAA-record 30 straight regionals. 
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 32nd season leading the Rebel program.
