Rebels Climb Standings, Finish Sixth In California

Freshman David Rauch records top-10 individual finish at Stanford's 27-team tournament.

STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 2-over-par 282 and finished in sixth place at The Goodwin, which was played at Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6.758 yards).

The Rebels moved up three spots in the standings during the final round, finishing the three-day, 54-hole event at 20-over 860. Host Stanford ran away with the team title at 8-under 832 after a final-round 6-under 274. No. 6 USC finished in second place, 18 shots back, at 10-over. No. 5 Oklahoma was third at 14-over, No. 11 California was fourth at 15-over and Washington rounded out the top five at 17-over.

Individually, Stanford's Brandon Wu and David Snyder tied for medalist honors at 4-under 206, with Wu claiming the title in a playoff. There was a three-way tie for third at 2-under.

TOP REBEL FINISHER: Freshman David Rauch went from a tie for 23rd entering the final day to finishing among the top 10, tying for ninth at 1-over. He shot a final-round 1-under, consisting of five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Junior Justin Kim fired the low round on the last day for UNLV. He was 2-under 68 for his round, which included four birdies and two bogeys.

REBEL NOTES: 
• UNLV is the three-time defending Mountain West champions. 
• Last year's team also finished third at the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, and placed in the top 20 at the NCAA Championship. 
• Trent earned the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award last season, while Harry Hall and Trent were both recognized as All-MW performers. 
• Hall was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar in July. 
• UNLV has played in a NCAA-record 30 straight regionals. 
• This year marks head coach Dwaine Knight's 32nd season leading the Rebel program.
