SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – A short-handed UNLV men's tennis team saw its regular-season slate come to an end with a 4-0 loss at San Diego State Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center.
The Rebels fell to 13-8 overall and finished 2-5 in Mountain West play while the Aztecs improved to 13-9/4-3.
SDSU opened up a 1-0 lead by taking the two completed doubles matches and then dominated singles play, where UNLV was without one senior starter completely and saw its top player retire in the second set, both because of illness.
Rebel sophomore Jordan Sauer was just one game short of winning his match on court three before it was halted after the hosts clinched the fourth point.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV awaits word on the seeding for the 2019 Mountain West Men's Tennis Championship, which will be held next week in Fresno.
