LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team, which finished undefeated in league play for a second straight year to earn another regular-season title, will head to San Diego this week for the Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship.
The 2019 event will be held April 24-27 beginning with the first round on Wednesday. This spring marked the third straight and sixth overall regular-season crown in UNLV women's history – all coming under head coach
Kevin Cory. The Rebels have also won more MW tournament crowns – five – than any other school.
After enjoying a bye, top-seeded UNLV (14-6/4-0 in MW) will begin play on Thursday at 10 a.m. PT and face the winner of Wednesday's opening-round match between #8 San Jose State and #9 Fresno State.
Friday's semifinals are slated for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. PT while Saturday's championship will begin at 11 a.m. PT. The semifinals and championship matches will be shown live online via the Mountain West Network.
Since the event's inception in 2000, Cory has led his program to a sparkling 34-14 record in MW tournament play. UNLV advanced to at least the semifinals every season except for three, including winning it all in 2000, '02, '08, '13 and '16.
