Rebels Move To Fourth Place At NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional

Top five teams will move on to national finals.

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 4-under-par 284 to move into fourth place Tuesday at the 2019 NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional, which is being played at TPC of Myrtle Beach (par 72, 6,950 yards).

The top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship finals, which will be played May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Ohio State is the event's team leader at 11-under, while No. 3 Wake Forest and No. 23 Illinois are both tied for second at 9-under. The Rebels' 36-hole total is 4-under 572, while No. 10 California rounds out the top five at 2-under.

Individually, there is a tie for first at 8-under between Oregon's Edwin Yi and Illinois' Michael Feagles. UNLV junior Justin Kim turned in the Rebels' best individual round of the day at 4-under 68 and he leads the team in a tie for 10th at 3-under 141.

STAT OF THE DAY: UNLV is one of only five schools to be under par after the second round.

REBELS OF THE DAY: Kim's second round consisted of six birdies and two bogeys. He moved up 19 spots in the standings Tuesday.

There are a total of 14 teams and 75 individuals competing. In addition to the low five teams, the low individual not on those teams will advance to the national finals.

REBEL NOTES: 
• This year marks UNLV's 31st straight appearance in a NCAA Regional, which is the national record for most consecutive appearances.
• The Rebels have won five NCAA Regional titles with the last coming in 2017 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
• UNLV placed third last year at the regional in Columbus, Ohio, to advance to the NCAA finals where it placed in the top 20.
• The Rebels are looking for their 22nd overall appearance at the national finals this year.
• UNLV is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Mountain West Championship, which snapped its string of three straight conference titles.
• Senior Harry Hall was named the MW's Golfer of the Year earlier this month, while Hall, sophomore Jack Trent and freshman David Rauch were all named All-MW.
• This season marks the 32nd at UNLV for Hall of Fame head coach Dwaine Knight.
