Rebels Move Up Seven Spots In Standings At NCAA Championship

UNLV is 16th as a team, Harry Hall is just six back individually in Arkansas.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team moved up seven spots in the standings Saturday during the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, which is being played at Blessings Golf Club (par 72, 7,550 yards).

After shooting 22-over during the first round on Friday, the Rebels rebounded with a second-round 4-over 292 and sit in 16th place among the 30 teams vying for the national championship.

No. 1 Oklahoma State increased its lead to 12 shots with a second-round 12-under 276. The Cowboys are 10-under after 36 holes. No. 10 Stanford is second at 2-over, followed by No. 17 Texas A&M at 7-over, No. 11 Auburn at 10-over and No. 5 Texas at 12-over.

Oklahoma State's Austin Eckroat holds the individual lead by a shot at 6-under, while there is a two-way tie for second at 5-under. UNLV has been led by senior Harry Hall, who is tied for ninth at even-par 144 after two rounds of 72.

THIRD ROUND PLAY: The third round will begin at 6:50 a.m. CT on Sunday. UNLV's tee times are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT.

ROUND 3 CUT: The top 15 teams and nine individuals not on a qualifying team following the conclusion of the third round will advance to the final day of 18 holes of stroke play on Monday, May 27 to determine the individual national champion and the top eight teams that will advance to match play.

There are a total of 156 individuals competing.

• This year marked UNLV's 31st straight appearance in a NCAA Regional, which is the national record for most consecutive appearances.
• The Rebels are making their 22nd overall appearance at the national finals as a team this year.
• This is UNLV's third straight trip to the national finals. The Rebels placed in the top 20 last year.
• UNLV finished fourth at the Mountain West Championship this year, then placed fifth at the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional.
• Senior Harry Hall was named the MW's Golfer of the Year this season, while Hall, sophomore Jack Trent and freshman David Rauch were all named All-MW.
• This season marks the 32nd at UNLV for Hall of Fame head coach Dwaine Knight.
