SATURDAY'S NOTES...
UNLV (1-3/0-1) returns to Sam Boyd Stadium for the first time in nearly a month for its first home conference game of the fall by hosting No. 16 (AP)/15 Boise State (4-0/2-0) Saturday night in the first of three Rebel games to be shown by CBS Sports Network in the month of October ... It will mark the first ranked opponent for the Rebels since then-No. 22/23 Fresno State came to town last November ... The Broncos are the highest ranked team to face UNLV at Sam Boyd Stadium since No. 13/13 UCLA in 2015 ... This is just the third ranked Boise State team to play the Rebels (No. 5/5 in 2011 and No. 24/22 in 2012) ... Last Saturday, UNLV dropped its MW opener, 53-17, at Wyoming while the Broncos enjoyed their first bye of the season ... Despite missing the entire second half after getting banged up, Rebel junior Armani Rogers became his school's career leader and moved into 10th place on the Mountain West all-time list for rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,549 ... Despite also being knocked out with an injury in the first half after just five carries, running back Charles Williams comes into Saturday as the No. 10 rusher in the FBS with 118.0 yards per game, including a career-high 168 vs. Arkansas State in Week Two ... The junior has already doubled his career 100-yard games total with six, which is tied for the 14th-most in UNLV history ... Educators from three local high schools (Desert Pines, Silverado and Liberty) will be recognized on the field during Saturday's game as part of the annual Extra Yard for Teachers, which includes each school receiving $1,500 as part of the program sponsored by the College Football Playoff Foundation.

REBELS vs. BRONCOS NOTES...
Boise State's victory over UNLV in the most recent meeting in 2016 gave the Broncos a 7-3 lead in the overall series ... However, all three of UNLV's wins in the series came in Las Vegas ... The two schools played for six straight seasons in the 1970s but ended the series when UNLV, which was a football independent, moved up to Division One status in 1978 ... All-time, the Rebels have an 13-13 record vs. teams from the Gem State (3-7 vs. BSU, 4-4 vs. Idaho and 6-2 vs. Idaho State) but this will be only the fifth such game staged as conference mates ... In a unique twist, these schools share a former head coach who left each side as the all-time winningest for both programs. Tony Knap, who died in 2011 at the age of 96, was 47-20-2 over six seasons at UNLV after leaving Boise State, where he was 71-19-1 from 1968-75 (Chris Petersen passed Knap for wins in 2011).
