Rebels Register Five Wins Friday In Flagstaff

UNLV track & field’s Cassondra Hall and Jonon Young finish first, once again, in the 60m and long jump at a NAU-hosted meet.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program registered 21 top-eight finishes, including wins in five events, at Northern Arizona's Lumberjack Team Challenge Friday at the Walkup Skydome. The Rebels, who were making their second straight appearance in as many weeks at a NAU-hosted meet, saw Cassondra Hall and Jonon Young claim victories amongst collegiate competitors, once again, in the 60m and long jump, respectively, while Alexis Surrell (400m) Jazlynn Shearer (triple jump) and the 4x400m relay also triumphed Friday evening.

The Scarlet & Gray's "A" 4x400m relay squad, which was comprised of Surrell, Hall, Kaysha Love and Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete, ran a winning time of 3:41.27. Individually, Hall clocked a season-best time of 7.30 for the 60m win – maintaining her fourth-place spot in the program's all-time indoor performance list, while Surrell (55.20 personal best) and Wilson-Perteete (55.74) finished 1-2 in the 400m, respectively.

In the horizontal jumps, Young took first in the long jump with a measurement of 19-3.50 (5.88m) and upped her personal-best mark to 41-4.25 (12.60m) in the triple jump, which was good enough for second place. Shearer finished atop the triple jump standings with a distance of 41-9.75 (12.74), which was also a personal best. In the program's all-time indoor performance list, Shearer ranks third and Young is now fourth.
