LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team opened its dual-match seaso
n Friday morning with a 4-0 shutout of New Mexico State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Playing the first of four matches over the next two days, the Rebels started by taking the first two completed doubles contests for a 1-0 lead. Moving to singles play, the hosts got a 6-0, 6-2 win by
Jordan Sauer over Luis Flores on court three; a 7-5, 6-3 win by
Milos Dabic over Timothee Curnier at the bottom of the lineup; and clinched things with a 6-2, 7-6 victory by
Anton Ornberg over Martin Simecek at the fourth spot. The remaining three matches, which all split sets, were halted.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Jordan Sauer helped UNLV win a spirited doubles session with a victory at the top of the lineup with partner
Alex Kobelt and then raced to a straight-set win in singles.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will face UC Riverside Friday afternoon before staging another doubleheader Saturday vs. Pacific at 10 a.m. and Hawai'i at 2 p.m. Admission to all matches are free of charge.
