LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Taking advantage of an additional season of eligibility granted by the NCAA because of the COVID-19 pandemic, star UNLV running back
Charles Williams announced Tuesday that he will return to the Rebels in 2021.
Williams (Fresno, CA/Bullard High School), who is pursuing his master's degree after earning a bachelor's in journalism & media studies, will become a Super Senior in what will be his sixth collegiate campaign. He currently ranks fourth on the school's career rushing list with 2,940 yards and is just 793 yards short of UNLV record-holder Tim Cornett, who posted 3,733 from 2010-13. Williams is also tied for fifth among all Rebels with 10 career 100-yard rushing games.
As a junior in 2019, Williams led the Mountain West in rushing yards with 1,257 and was named first team all-league. He entered 2020 as a member of the official watch list for both the Doak Walker Award (top running back) and Maxwell Award (top overall player) as well as being named preseason All-MW. The Chuck Wagon would go on to lead the Rebels with 495 rushing yards and four scores during the abbreviated six-game campaign this fall.
Fans who are interested in attending games in 2021 are encouraged to place a season ticket deposit on UNLVtickets.com. Season ticket deposits are available for $25 per seat and will lock in the opportunity to purchase season tickets at Allegiant Stadium before the general public.
