TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team continued its grueling early-season schedule by falling 4-0 to San Diego on Saturday in a neutral-site match played at Whiteman Tennis Center on the campus of Arizona State.
The Rebels fell to 0-3 while the Toreros improved to 2-3.
UNLV was competitive in doubles play, quickly taking the top match before USD claimed the point with wins on courts 2-3. In singles, the Toreros posted a trio of 6-2, 6-2 victories to end things.
REBEL OF THE MATCH:
Izumi Asano teamed with
En-Pei Huang for a 6-0 win at the No. 1 doubles position and then was headed to three sets in singles against 39th-ranked Solymar Colling when the match was halted.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: It doesn't get any easier for UNLV, which will complete its road trip by taking on 14th-ranked Arizona State on Super Bowl Sunday starting at 11 a.m. PT.
