LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Junior Izumi Asano has been named Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second straight week and third time in her career, the league announced Wednesday.
 
The native of Kasugai, Japan, won both of her matches in her team's victory over New Mexico State. After she defeated Harsha Challa, 7-5, 6-3, in singles, Asano and doubles partner En-Pei Huang, who are ranked No. 15 in the nation, downed Challa and Gavi Kalaga, 6-2, at the top spot to improve to 12-3 on the season.
 
In addition to last week, Asano also won the award on Feb. 6, 2019. She and the rest of the Rebels will be back in action Friday at 10 a.m. when they host Weber State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
