Update Regarding Fall Sports

UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois updated season ticket holders via this letter on Monday, July 20.

Dear Rebel Season-Ticket Holder:

I hope this finds you and your family well during this unprecedented time. I want to share with you a brief update on where UNLV currently stands regarding our fall sports.

As always, our primary commitment is to the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, as well as you, our dedicated fans. Every decision we make—and every plan we consider—is guided by this priority and we continue to collaborate with, and follow the guidelines from, the State of Nevada, the Southern Nevada Health District, the UNLV COVID-19 Management Team, the Mountain West Conference Medical Advisory Board and the NCAA.

While conditions change almost daily, UNLV will be well-prepared when our experts deem it safe to return to competition and we anticipate a decision by the Mountain West Conference on the return of fall sports in the next few weeks. As we share with our student-athletes, if it is not safe to play, quite simply, we won't. However, in light of the ever-evolving situation, we will be patient and methodical.

Be assured that we are committed to all of our sports programs and look forward to building on our department's positive momentum whenever we are able to safely begin playing again. UNLV football's tremendous momentum is highlighted by our move into one of the world's greatest stadiums, the opening of a state-of-the-art on-campus training facility, and welcoming a new coaching staff that has made an immediate impact in recruiting, enthusiasm and buzz.

Even with us apart these past four months, we have heard your cheers from afar as your unwavering support has been felt in the form of record-setting season ticket sales, increased RAF memberships and enthusiasm for the new Momentum Fund.

We know that there are more challenges ahead, but UNLV Athletics will remain mission-focused, student-athlete centered and in alignment with our core values as we work hard to make our university and community proud.

Thank you for your support and for wearing a mask as we all do our part to bring back sports as soon as possible.

Go Rebels!
