Rebels Finish Sixth In Reno

Caden Fioroni records best UNLV individual finish with a tie for 11th at Wolf Pack Classic.

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) The UNLV men's golf team finished second-round play Tuesday morning, then fired a final-round 7-under-par 281 to finish in a sixth-place tie at the Wolf Pack Classic, which was hosted by UNR at Hidden Valley Country Club (par 72, 7,302 yards).

New Mexico won the team title by four shots at 14-under over San Francisco. UNR placed third at 13-over, followed by UCLA at 14-over and San Jose State rounded out the top five at 16-over. The Rebels tied with UC Davis at 18-over.

New Mexico's Albert Boneta earned medalist honors at 6-under 210, while UC Davis' Thomas Hutchison and New Mexico's Sam Choi tied for second at 5-under. There was a two-way tie for fourth at 4-under.

UNLV was led by sophomore Caden Fioroni who tied for 11th at even par after a final-round 3-under 69. Junior George Leigh placed in the top 15 at 1-over after a final-round 2-under. 

There were a total of 15 teams and 80 golfers competing. 

The tournament concluded the fall season for UNLV. The Rebels will open the 2022 portion of their schedule on January 24 at the Southwestern Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine in Westlake Village, California.
