After two home games in six days, UNLV (0-7/0-3) hits the road for the annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon vs. in-state rival UNR (5-2/2-1) Friday night ... The Rebels are 8-9-1 all-time in games played on Friday ... This meeting of the state's only two collegiate football programs will take place on the Nevada Day holiday (observed), which celebrates the Silver State's admission to the Union on Oct. 31, 1864 ... The winner of the game will also earn three points in the Silver State Series presented by IBEW Local 401 and Nevada Donor Network ... Both teams are coming off close losses last week as UNLV fell 27-20 to SJSU and UNR fell 34-32 at Fresno State ... Charles Williams comes in with the most career net rushing yards gained on the FBS level (3,659) among all current players. Liberty's Joshua Mack has more career yards but a majority of them were gained on the FCS level before transferring to his current school. Daniel Gutierrez set the school record by making his 15th and then 16th consecutive field goal last Thursday, besting Jim Cook's long-standing mark of 14 straight set in 1987, before his fourth-quarter attempt was blocked to end the historic streak. Â
