Hayden Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week

The senior earns the honor after leading the Rebels to a 2-0 start

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV volleyball senior Mariena Hayden was named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics' Strategic Communications department.
 
Hayden, a native of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, paved the way for the Rebels' season-opening sweep over San Diego State with team highs of 34.0 points, 4.86 points per set, 25 kills, 3.57 kills per set, seven aces and 1.0 ace per set. In the Scarlet and Gray's 3-0 win against the Aztecs in the season opener, the standout outside hitter tallied 10 kills, eight digs, three assisted blocks and two aces. She followed that effort up with 15 kills, eight digs, five aces and one assisted block in UNLV's 3-1 comeback victory in the second match versus SDSU.
