LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team returned to the courts after a week off and downed Weber State, 4-3, Thursday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved their record on the season to 2-2 while the Wildcats fell to 1-3.
 
UNLV opened the morning by taking the key doubles point with wins on courts one and three. That included the nation's 13th-ranked duo of Izumi Asano and En-Pei Huang prevailing 6-2 on the top of the lineup.
 
In singles play, the teams split the six opening sets and the hosts eventually built a 3-0 lead and then clinched it with four points before WSU took the final two matches of the day.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Connie Li was leading in doubles with partner Sam Smith when her match was halted but in singles play rallied after dropping the first set to win the clinching point, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 over Ana Morett Salas on court three.
 
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will host UTEP on Saturday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. No fans are currently allowed to attend matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Live scoring is available at UNLVrebels.com.
