NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV made its way back to Craig Ranch Regional Park for the second time this season to participate in the Battle Born Collegiate Cross Country Challenge. The Rebels were led by MacKenzie Moss who finished 27th overall with a time of 23:50.7 in race No. 4.
The trio of
Rebecca Green,
Rebecca Fisher and
Lexy Osterkamp followed Moss to the finish line, and posted personal-best times in the process. Green took 29th in 23:52.9, while Fisher and Osterkamp were 33rd (24:14.1) and 36th (24:30.7), respectively.
The Rebels were also represented by
Sarrah Springer (24:46.9),
Jasmine Perez (27:10.1) and Kaitlyn Menger (27:25.9).
The Challenge was hosted by USA Track & Field – Nevada's Cross Country series and consisted of two men's 8K and two women's 6K races. In all, 17 NCAA Division I universities and one NAIA program were represented, including seven from the Mountain West – Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, UNR, Utah State, Wyoming and UNLV. Cal Baptist, Colorado, Dixie State, Embry-Riddle Arizona, Northern Arizona, Southern Utah, Stanford, Utah, Utah Valley, Washington and Washington State are entered in the one-day meet, as well.
IN THE RANKINGS: The Challenge featured six women's squads ranked in the most recent USTFCCA National Poll, with No. 4 New Mexico, No. 5 Colorado, No. 6 Stanford, No. 9 Washington, No. 11 Boise State and No. 16 NAU. The men's races were highlighted by No. 2 NAU, No. 5 Stanford, No. 10 Colorado and No. 25 Colorado State.
