LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV baseball junior Jack-Thomas Wold was named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics' Strategic Communications department.
A local product from Henderson, Wold helped the Rebels to a 3-0 home series sweep over New Mexico with a blazing .571 batting average, .929 slugging percentage, eight hits and five RBI. The Scarlet and Gray slugger opened the series going 3-for-5 at the plate, raking in three RBI and scoring two runs in UNLV's 24-7 victory. In game two, Wold went 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs, none more important than his game-tying homer in the sixth to even things up, 4-4. His heroics carried over to the series finale which saw him hit a walk-off, RBI double to complete another 3-for-5 batting effort.
