Second-Round Play Halted Because Of Darkness At N.I.T. In Arizona

Rebels shot 296 during first round and were 1-over through 14 holes when play was suspended at OMNI Tucson National.

TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a first-round 8-over-par 296 and was 1-over par through 14 holes in the second round as play was suspended because of darkness Saturday at the N.I.T., which is being played at OMNI Tucson National Resort (par 72, 7,167 yards).

Eight of the 18 teams competing completed second-round play. No. 8 Oklahoma State leads the event at 29-under 547, followed by No. 2 Oklahoma in second at 26-under. New Mexico is third at 23-under, No. 4 Illinois is fourth at 22-under and host No. 17 Arizona rounds out the top five at 21 over. UNLV is in 16th at 9-over after 32 holes.

Illinois' Adrien Dumont de Chassart leads all individuals at 11-under 133 after rounds of 68 and 65. New Mexico's Brandon Shong is one shot back in second at 10-under, while there is a four-way tie for third at 9-under.

The Rebels were led individually by junior David Rauch, who is even through 14 holes in the second round. He shot a first-round 73. The other four Rebels competing - senior Jack Trent, sophomore George Leigh, fifth-year Justin Kim and senior J.J. Gresco - range from a tie for 66th to a tie for 87th. 

There are a total of 104 players competing.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: Second-round play will resume at 7 a.m. on Sunday with the third and final round commencing afterward.
