SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team lost a tough, 4-3 decision to Fresno State in a neutral-site Sunday meeting at the Aztec Tennis Center.
 
UNLV saw its three-match winning streak snapped and fell to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain West while the Bulldogs improved to 9-3 (2-0).
 
The Rebels opened the day by taking two of three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. In singles, UNLV needed to at least split the six matches and started strong, winning the first set at four positions. However, Fresno State rallied on both the top and bottom courts to take the final two matches in three sets and grab the overall victory.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Freshman standout Zita Kovacs teamed with Aura Fang for a 6-0 pasting at No. 3 doubles and then swept Deniza Marcinkevica, 6-3, 7-6 (6), in singles play at the third spot to give her team a 3-2 lead.
 
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will head to Boise State for a Friday match with the Broncos starting at 2 p.m. PT.
