TUCSON, AZ (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team opened a busy week Monday at Arizona's Wildcat Invite, playing two rounds at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson. The Rebels shot a 29-over 605 to sit in 12th, while senior
Samantha Fuller is tied for 10th at even 144.
Fuller, from Surrey, England, carded a bogey-free opening round 70, followed by a 2-over 74 in round two. Junior
Veronica Joels and freshman
Madeleine Laux each came in five shots behind Fuller to sit tied for 30th at 5-over 149, followed by sophomore
Elina Saksa in a tie for 76th at 20-over 164 and freshman
Gracie Olkowski in a tie for 79th at 25-over 169.
Texas will head into Tuesday's final round atop the leaderboard after a dominant 14-under 562 on Monday. The Longhorns hold an eight-shot lead over second place USC at 6-under, followed by Oklahoma State in third at 3-under, Oregon in fourth at 2-over and three - Iowa State, Oregon State and Arizona - all tied for fifth at 12-over.
USC's Allisen Corpuz holds a slim lead at 7-under137 with Texas' Sara Kouskova right on her heels at 6-under 138 and fellow Longhorn Kaitlyn Papp just one shot behind Kouskova at 5-under. Oklahoma State's Isabella Fierro and Oregon's Hsin-Yu Lu round out the top five tied for fourth at 4-under 140.
