Jack Trent In 5th Place As Second-Round Play Suspended Because Of Darkness In Utah

UNLV men's golf is 14th in the team standings at BYU Cougar Classic.

PROVO, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior Jack Trent shot rounds of 4-under-par 68 and 3-under 69 on Friday at the BYU Cougar Classic, which is being played at Riverside Country Club (par 72, 7,142 yards). Second-round play was suspended because of darkness, but 12 of the 20 teams competing, including UNLV, were able to complete the full 36 holes.

Trent currently is in fifth place individually at 7-under 137. On the day, he recorded nine birdies with just two bogeys.

San Francisco leads the team standings at 20-under through 15 holes in the second round, while New Mexico is second at 14-under (also through 15 holes in round two). Colorado State, which finished second-round play, and BYU are both tied for third at 13-under, while Utah rounds out the top five at 10-under. The Cougars and Utes also still have three holes to play in the second round. UNLV is in 14th place as a team at 7-over.

Boise State's Hugo Townsend and San Francisco's Tim Widing are both tied for first individually at 10-under. Townsend has one hole left in the second round, while Widing has three left to play. BYU's Carson Lundell is third at 9-under and San Francisco's Soren Lind is fourth at 8-under.

UNLV sophomore George Leigh is tied for 49th at 2-over, fifth-year Justin Kim is tied for 69th at 5-over, senior J.J. Gresco is tied for 92nd at 9-over and junior David Rauch is tied for 94th at 11-over. There are a total of 104 golfers competing.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: Second-round play will conclude Saturday morning with the final round commencing afterward.
