Michael Nuga To Transfer To UNLV Men's Basketball Program

6-foot-2-inch All-Mid-American Conference grad transfer from Kent State added to 2021-22 Runnin' Rebel roster.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball program has received a signed commitment from Michael Nuga to join the Runnin' Rebels for the 2021-22 season, head coach Kevin Kruger announced Thursday.

Nuga is a grad transfer from Kent State and is immediately eligible to play his final college season at UNLV.

"Mike is a great addition to the Runnin' Rebel program," Kruger said. "His passion and determination to be a great player on the court, as well as a great person off of it, fit perfectly with the values and vision of UNLV men's basketball."

A 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pound guard, originally from Toronto, earned Third Team All-Mid-American Conference honors this past season at Kent State. Listed as a top-100 transfer by ESPN this year, he was second on the Golden Flashes in scoring with 17.8 points per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 39% on 3-pointers. His 37 makes from long distance ranked third on his team. He also made 81% of his free throws and averaged 5.5 rebounds per contest in 32.6 minutes played per game.

Kent State was 15-8 overall and 12-6 in the MAC this past season, tying for third in the league. Nuga started his collegiate career at Eastern Florida State College, before transferring to Portland State. He led the Vikings in scoring with 10.3 ppg during the 2018-19 season before transferring to Kent State where he sat out during the 2019-20 campaign.

Nuga joins Royce Hamm Jr., from Texas, Victor Iwaukor from Oklahoma, Jordan McCabe from West Virginia, David Muoka from Lamar, Justin Webster from Hawaii and Donovan Williams, also from Texas, as incoming transfers to the UNLV men's basketball program.
