Second-Round Play Halted Because Of Darkness At Cowboy Classic In Arizona

Rebels shot 292 during first round and were 3-under through 17 holes when play was suspended at Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail Course.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a first-round 4-over-par 292 and was 3-under through 17 holes in the second round as play was suspended because of darkness Monday at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, which is being played at the Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail Course (par 72, 7,334 yards).

Eleven of the 23 teams competing completed the second round. San Diego State leads the event at 27-under as the Aztecs also completed 17 holes in the second round. Colorado is second at 13-under, San Diego and Stanford are both tied for third at 11-under, while Loyola Marymount and host Wyoming round out the top five in a tie for fifth at 8-under. UNLV is in 11th at 1-over.

LMU's Riley Lewis and Cameron Meeks are both tied for individual lead through 17 holes in the second round at 9-under. The pair each shot 7-under 65s during the first round. There is two-way tie for third place, one shot back at 8-under between San Diego State's Steve Sugimoto and Colorado's Victor Bjorlow.

The Rebels were led individually by senior Jack Trent who is tied for 20th at 3-under. He shot an opening-round 2-under 70. Senior J.J. Gresco is tied for 37th at even par, sophomore George Leigh is tied for 41st at 1-over, sophomore Jack Kozlowski is tied for 56th at 3-over and junior David Rauch is tied for 95th at 8-over.

There are a total of 120 players competing.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: Second-round play will resume at 7 a.m. on Tuesday with the third and final round commencing afterward.
