Jack Trent Records First-Round 74 At NCAA Regional

Competing as an individual, UNLV senior is 3-over after Monday's opening round in Cle Elum, Washington.

CLE ELUM, Wash. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golf senior Jack Trent shot an opening-round 3-over-par 74 Monday at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, which is being played at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort (par 71, 7,069 yards).

Trent, who is competing at the event as an individual, is eight shots off the lead in a tie for 51st. His round consisted of four bogeys and a birdie. After bogeys on No. 5 and No. 11, he birdied No. 15 before back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 16 and 17.

Washington's Petr Hruby and San Francisco's Christoffer Palsson are tied for the lead at 5-under 66, with Wake Forest's Alex Fitzpatrick a shot back in third at 4-under. 

No. 6 Wake Forest and No. 25 San Francisco are tied for the team lead at 6-under 278, while No. 7 Pepperdine is third at 5-under. East Tennessee State and Washington are tied for fourth at 4-under. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Finals, which will be held May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The NCAA Cle Elum Regional, one of six sites that feed into the national championship, will continue on Tuesday with the second round and conclude on Wednesday with the final 18 holes.
