COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 4-over-par 292 Sunday at the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, which was hosted by Air Force at the Eisenhower Golf Course (par 72, 7,541 yards).
UC Davis captured the team title with a tournament-record 33-under 831, winning the event by 24 shots after a final-round 8-under 280. UNR finished second at 9-under, Denver was third at 8-under, Weber State was fourth at 5-under and Wyoming rounded out the top five at 3-under. The Rebels finished 10th at the 21-team event at 13-over.
UC Davis' Thomas Hutchison won medalist honors among those competing in the team championship with a record- 54-hole score of 15-under 201. His 10-under 62 during the second round was also a tournament record. Weber State's Reese Fisher and Cal State Northridge's Blake Brothers both tied for second at 10-under.
UNLV was led by fifth-year senior (graduate student)
J.J. Gresco, who tied for 22nd at 1-over 217. Sophomore
Caden Fioroni also finished among the top 25 as he tied for 25th at 2-over. There were 105 players who competed in the team competition, which was held on the Blue Course.
The individual-only tournament was played on the Silver Course and was won by Colorado's Jack Huges at 7-under 209. San Jose State's Vijay Srinivasan finished second at 6-under. UNLV senior Jack Kozlowski placed sixth at even par.
