LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - As soon as
Kevin Kruger was named head coach of the UNLV men's basketball program in March, he looked to revamp the team's roster for the 2021-22 season. In doing so, he turned to the transfer portal, where he was able to upgrade the program's talent with nine new players.
In a recent ESPN.com feature by Jeff Borzello,
Winners and losers of men's college basketball's 2021-22 transfer season, UNLV has been declared a winner.Â
Borzello wrote, "
Kevin Kruger isn't wasting any time trying to turn things around in the desert. While he landed seven transfers, convincing
Bryce Hamilton to withdraw from the portal was perhaps his biggest win. Hamilton and Kent State transfer Mike Nuga will form an explosive perimeter duo. Kruger also landed four Big 12 transfers:
Royce Hamm Jr. (Texas),
Victor Iwuakor (Oklahoma),
Jordan McCabe (West Virginia) and
Donovan Williams (Texas), as well as dominant shot-blocker
David Muoka from Lamar and double-figure scorer
Justin Webster from Hawaii."
UNLV's 2021-22 Mountain West schedule has been announced and its full non-conference slate is expected to be released soon. For tickets, visit
