LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – After a year off, one of the nation's top individual tournaments returns as players from a select group of elite college programs from across the United States, including host UNLV, will gather in Las Vegas this weekend for the 19th Annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
 
Individual competitors will be supplied by four teams ranked in the top 20 in the season's initial ITA rankings -- No. 2 Pepperdine, No. 5 UCLA, No. 17 Stanford and No. 20 Florida – along with Oklahoma State and UNLV.
 
Action begins with doubles each day at 10 a.m. PST on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday. Admission to all matches is free. This year's Freeman features two flights in singles and one in doubles along with consolation rounds.
 
The last event played – in January 2020 – saw Stanford's Michaela Gordon outlast Oklahoma State's Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 for the singles title while North Carolina's Makenna Jones and Alle Sanford won the doubles crown, 6-2, over Stanford's Emma Higuchi and Sara Choy.
