UNLV Student-Athletes Set Multiple Grade Point Average Records

Athletics Department turns in record ninth-straight semester with at least a 3.0, earning new highs in both semester and cumulative GPAs.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV student-athletes have again set department records for academics, the Athletics Department announced Friday.

The cumulative grade point average of all UNLV student-athletes subsequent to the Fall 2021 semester is 3.35, eclipsing the previous mark of 3.24 set in Spring 2021. In addition, the Fall 2021 semester GPA was 3.26, besting the previous semester high of 3.22 set in Spring 2020.

The department has now achieved a collective semester GPA of at least 3.0 for a record ninth-straight time. Prior to the fall 2017 semester, UNLV student-athletes had never achieved a collective semester GPA of 3.0.

"Success in the classroom is extremely important to us," said UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper. "We are proud of our student-athletes' hard work and all of their academic accomplishments. Thank you to our Student-Athlete Academic Services Department, and our coaches and staff, for their continued commitment to our student-athletes' success in all that they do."

Other academic highlights for the department include:
  • 174 UNLV student-athletes were named to the Dean's Honor List for Fall 2021, which requires a semester GPA greater than 3.50 in at least 12 academic credits.

  • The sports of women's basketball, football, men's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball and track & field all set program records for team semester GPA (Fall 2021).

  • All UNLV sports programs have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater subsequent to Fall 2021.

  • Baseball, women's basketball, football, men's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, women's tennis, track & field and volleyball all set program records for team cumulative GPA.
