Rebels Return Home To Take On Air Force and New Mexico

UNLV is currently the only program in the conference that has clinched a spot in the 2022 Mountain West Conference Tournament held November 23-25 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team (20-3, 11-1 MW), and current Mountain West leader, will return to the friendly confines of Cox Pavilion this weekend to take on Air Force (12-13, 4-9 MW) Thursday evening at 6 p.m., followed by a match against New Mexico (14-9, 5-8 MW) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Rebels are currently the only program in the conference that has clinched a spot in the 2022 Mountain West Conference Tournament held November 23-25 in Fort Collins, Colorado.  

UNLV is coming off its fifth consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play after defeating Boise State in three sets for the second time this season Thursday night, and taking the win over Utah State in five sets, also for the second time this season, Saturday afternoon. 

The Falcons, who the Rebels defeated in Colorado earlier this season in five sets, comes into the weekend also 2-0 after taking the win over UNR Saturday afternoon in five sets and beating the Lobos in five sets Tuesday evening. 

The Lobos, who got swept the Scarlet & Gray earlier this season, comes into the weekend with a 0-2 record in conference play. UNM fell to SJSU in four sets Saturday afternoon and was defeated by Air Force in five sets Tuesday evening.

ON THE SIDELINES
The Rebels will hit the road for their last away games of regular season with a contest against San Diego State slated for Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m., followed by a trip to Fresno to take on the Bulldogs Saturday, November 12 at 12 p.m. This will be the second time UNLV will play against both programs this season. 

REBELS CLAIM WEEKLY AWARDS
- Maya Sands received the first weekly award for the Scarlet & Gray (Sept. 19) earning both MW Freshman and Defensive Player of the Week after recording 55 digs, seven assists, five service aces, five points and three receptions to help the Rebels to a 2-1 weekend. 
- Sands earned her second weekly honors of the season after being named Freshman of the Week again (Oct. 17) after helping the Rebels to its third consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play. 
- Junior Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos earned MW Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 3) after totaling 31 kills, 57 attacks, a .436 hitting percentage, 10 digs, 37 points, three blocks and three service aces during the Scarlet & Gray's 2-0 weekend. 
- Graduate student Ellease Crumpton earned MW Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 24) after totaling 24 kills, a hitting percentage of .455, 11 digs, 32.5 points, three solo blocks and two service aces during UNLV's fourth consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play. 
- Redshirt junior Isabel Martin earned MW Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 31) after totaling 30 kills, a hitting percentage of .406, 19 digs, one service ace, three solo blocks and 36 total points during UNLV's fifth consecutive 2-0 weekend in conference play.

LEADERS IN THE MW AND THE NATION
- UNLV currently ranks 36th in the NCAA for assists per set (12.72), 41st in kills per set (13.72) and 50th for hitting percentage (.251).
- The Rebels currently sit second in the conference for hitting percentage (.251), second in assists (12.72 per set), second in kills (13.72 per set) and sit third for digs with 14.23 per set.
- Graduate student Jhenna Gabriel leads in the conference and ranks 35th in the nation for assists with 10.47 per set.
- Graduate Student Ellease Crumpton sits third in the MW for hitting percentage with .370.
- Redshirt-junior Isabel Martin ranks third in the MW for both kills per set with 3.79 and in points with 4.26 per set.
- Junior Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos sits fifth in the MW for kills per set with 3.69 and ranks sixth in points per set with 4.03.
- Freshman Maya Sands currently sits sixth in the MW for digs per set with 3.67.
- Redshirt junior Jordyn Freeman ranks eighth in the conference for hitting percentage with .335.
- Sophomore Dakota Quinlan sits ninth in the conference for hitting percentage with .330.

OTHER NEWS & NOTES
- The Rebels clinched their spot in the Mountain West Tournament after Air Force defeated New Mexico Tuesday, November 1 in four sets. 
- Dating back to 2019, UNLV has gone 77-15 in its last 92 matches. The Rebels have won 20 of 23 matches this season and 46 of its last 55.
- UNLV returned eight letterwinners this season. Also returning to the squad from last season were Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos, Arien Fafard, Jordyn Freeman, Chloe Thomas, Isha Knight, Keyana Cruse, Dakota Quinlan, Livvy Setla, Isabel Martin and Thea Sweder. There are eight newcomers, which include three freshmen, a trio of transfers and a pair of graduate transfers.
- UNLV is led by fifth-year head coach Dawn Sullivan, who looks to guide her squad to the postseason for the fifth straight season. 
- Junior Arien Fafard had her 1,000th career assist during the opening weekend of the Rebels' 2022 campaign at UNT. 
- The Rebels defeated No. 19 Kansas on September 10, 2022, making that the second win over a ranked team since 2016. The first being then No. 25 Washington State during the fall 2021 season at the Rebel Challenge (Sept. 4, 2021). 
- Head Coach Dawn Sullivan notched 100 wins during the match against then MW leaders San Jose State, 3-1.

PURCHASE TICKETS: Single-game ticket prices this season are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, faculty and staff, and $5 to groups of 15 or more. Fans that purchase tickets online before game day can get them for an advanced single-game price of $6. All high school, middle school and elementary students are free under UNLV's new admission policy. To receive free admission, high school students must present valid Nevada are school I.D. at the box office on gameday for one (1) complimentary ticket. Current UNLV students will receive free admission with a valid school I.D. All other students will receive a complimentary ticket at the box office (no I.D. required). Kids not yet elementary school age will continue to receive free admission for all UNLV Olympic sports.
