Rebels Wrap Up Day One Of The 2022 MW Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field team closed out day one of the 2022 MW Indoor Championships held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. Thursday's events consisted of the men's heptathlon, the women's pentathlon and the men's and women's 4000m distance medley relay.

The Scarlet & Gray were represented by Rachel Seeley and Julia Nixon in the women's pentathlon, an event consisting of the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m run. Seeley finished 13th overall with a total score of 3,044, going 9.25, 1.58m, 10.52m, 5.01m and 2:32.46, respectively. Nixon followed in 15th with 2,815 points overall, going 9.93, 1.37m, 7.34m, 4.91m and 2:28.10 in the pentathlon events.

A technical error during the 4000m distance medley relay caused seven out of the 10 teams to run one lap shy of the full distance. New Mexico took first, running the full 4000m, with a time of 11:10.33, Colorado State took second (11:47.66) and Air Force took third (11:59.75). Utah State placed fourth, missing just 1/4 of the final lap, with a time of 11:50.04, followed by the Rebels, who were a full lap short, in fifth (11:03.30), San Diego State in sixth (11:15.21), Boise State took seventh (11:15.75), Wyoming placed eighth (11:36.70), UNR finished ninth (11:36.80) and San Jose State took 10th (11:44.75).

The UNLV relay squad was composed of Emma Wahlenmaier, Alia Scott, Elisa Rovere and Natalia Ruiz Lara.

The Rebels take on day two of the championship competition starting Friday at 12 p.m. (PT) with the women's long jump, followed by the women's weight throw and women's high jump. UNLV will also have participants on the track in the 60m hurdles, 400m dash, 60m dash, 800m run, 200m dash and 5000m run.
