PALO ALTO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team took to the road for the first time this season and also suffered its first defeat, 7-0 at the hands of powerhouse Stanford at the Taube Family Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
 
The Rebels fell to 6-1 while the Cardinal, which yesterday handled defending national champion and fifth-ranked Texas, 5-2, on these same courts, improved to 6-1.
 
The teams staged a competitive doubles point as Stanford won the first two completed matches for a 1-0 lead. Moving to singles, the hosts fielded a lineup featuring four ranked players – and it showed.
 
Stanford won on all six courts in straight sets as a quartet of Rebels – Zita Kovacs, Izumi Asano, Cindy Hu and Salsa Aher – all lost their first dual match of the season.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV returns home for a trio of matches next weekend, starting with New Mexico State on Friday with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission is always free of charge.
