LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team opened its dual-match season with a 7-0 shutout of Weber State on a sunny but chilly Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels built a 1-0 lead by dominating doubles en route to winning the two completed matches against the Wildcats, who fell to 1-1 on the young season.

In singles play, the hosts won in straight sets on four courts and then earned their final two points on super-tiebreakers to preserve the shutout.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Zita Kovacs teamed with Molly Helgesson for a rare 6-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles and then rolled past Megan Davies on court two in singles play, 6-3, 6-3.

UP NEXT: UNLV is right back on the courts Saturday morning when it hosts UTEP starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission is always free of charge.
