Osborne-Butler Claims Hammer Throw Title At Outdoor Opener

LOS ANGELES (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field team secured three top-20 finishes Saturday at the 2022 Occidental Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic. The meet featured teams from all over the Golden State and was held at the Bill Henry Olympic Track on the campus of Occidental College in Los Angeles, California

Cassidy Osborne-Butler claimed the women's hammer throw title with a distance of 53.94m. Mackenzie Moss placed 11th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:17.99, followed closely behind by Alexys Arroyo in 15th (12:43.21).

LaKyla Yazzie led the Rebels in the 1500m run, finishing 38th with a time of 5:02.96. Rebecca Green followed behind in 47th (5:07.86) and Ellen Wise took 59th (5:11.11)

Other notable finishes for the Scarlet & Gray include Jasmine Perez placing 34th in the 400m dash with a time of 1:05.05 and Aitza Romero finishing 30th in the 800m run (2:30.77).

NEXT TIME OUT: The Rebels will continue their 2022 outdoor campaign Saturday, March 26 at the Jim Bush Legends Meet held at UCLA Saturday.
