LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team lost at home for the first time in 10 outings this season, 4-3, at the hands of Marshall on a gorgeous St. Patrick's Thursday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels fell to 9-2 overall while the green-colored Thundering Herd of Conference USA improved to 9-9.
 
Marshall started by winning the key doubles point for a 1-0 lead by taking matches on courts one and three.
 
In singles play, UNLV rallied on the bottom three courts with victories from Cindy Hu, Salsa Aher and Aura Fang. With the match tied at three, all eyes moved to the top of the lineup where Rebel Molly Helgesson had split sets with Emma Vanderheyden. The visiting player would take the decisive third set, however, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-2.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Freshman Cindy Hu's doubles match at No. 2 was halted tied 5-5 before she rolled past Jutte Van Hansewyck, 6-1, 6-1, at the fourth position in singles.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV is back on the courts Saturday morning when it hosts UTSA starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission is always free of charge.
