PHOENIX, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team ended day one at ASU's Thunderbird Collegiate in 12th after shooting an 8-over 576 through the first two rounds at the Papago Golf Course (Par 71 7,317 yards) in Phoenix.
Sophomore
Caden Fioroni was the top Rebel performer on the day, carding a 4-under 138 to sit tied for 15th heading into Saturday's final round. Freshman
Tommy Kimmel was the next highest Rebel on the leaderboard in a tie for 43rd at 2-over 144, followed by junior
George Leigh and freshman
Aaron Jarvis in a tie for 69th after each shot a 7-over 149. Sophomore
Ben Sawaia rounded it out in a tie for 81st at 9-over 151.
Host and fourth-ranked Arizona State holds a two-shot lead over No. 1 Oklahoma as the Sun Devils sit at 19-under and the Sooners at 17-under through 36 holes. No. 2 Oklahoma State is one shot behind OU at 16-under followed by New Mexico in fourth at 11-under and No. 7 Texas Tech in fifth at 10-under. ASU's Jose Luis Ballester is atop the individual leaderboard at 10-under with New Mexico's Bastien Amat and Arizona State's James Leow tied for second at 9-under.
UP NEXT: Rebels will play their final round of the regular season Saturday morning with tee times starting at 7 a.m. PT.
