RENO (UNLVRebels.com) – San Diego State snapped a five-match losing skid vs. the UNLV women's tennis team with a come-from-behind, 4-3 neutral-site win on Friday afternoon at UNR's McArthur Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels fell to 15-5 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain West while the No. 75-ranked Aztecs improved to 14-5 and 6-1.
 
UNLV opened play by taking the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Aura Fang and CoCo Zhao prevailed 6-3 on court three and then Izumi Asano and Cindy Hu clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
 
Needing three more points, the Rebels used their momentum to capture four of six first sets in singles play before the Aztecs staged a furious rally.
Zita Kovacs downed Nnena Nadozie, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 2 position to give UNLV its second point and then Hu beat Alicia Melosch 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, on court four but SDSU ultimately won a trio of three-setters to prevail, including at the top and bottom of the lineup.
UP NEXT: UNLV heads to Colorado Springs for a pair of final matches next weekend, starting with a neutral-site meeting with New Mexico on Friday at 1 pm PT.
