COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) – Salsa Aher rallied to win a decisive three-set match and give the UNLV women's tennis team a 4-3 victory over surging Air Force to close out the regular season on a high note at the USAFA Indoor Courts on Saturday.
 
The Rebels improved to 17-5 overall and finished 7-3 in the Mountain West while the Falcons, who came into the day with a perfect 7-0 home mark, dropped to 17-7 and 6-4.
 
Moved indoors because of high winds, UNLV picked up the key doubles point by taking two of three matches. Aher and CoCo Zhao won 6-1 at the third position and then Izumi Asano and Cindy Hu prevailed 7-5 on court two to clinch the point.
 
In singles, Asano won in three sets and CoCo Zhao cruised in two to score her team's third point, which set up Aher's winner-takes-all outing at the fifth spot. Aher dropped the first set in a tiebreaker but then dominated Alex Kuo, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1. The transfer from Kentucky improved her singles mark to 18-5 overall, including 5-1 vs. MW opponents.
 
UP NEXT: With the regular-season now complete, UNLV will head to Arizona for next week's Mountain West Championship, which begins Wednesday at the El Conquistador Resort in Tucson.
