BREMERTON, Wash. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team concluded play at the 2022 Mountain West Championship Sunday in Bremerton, finishing in 10th place at 25-over. The three-day league championship event was played on the Olympic Course (Par 72, 7,115 yards) at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
Sophomore
Caden Fioroni was the top Rebel finisher, tying for 20th at 1-over after his final round of 1-under 71. Junior
George Leigh tied for 36th at 8-over, followed by senior
David Rauch in a tie for 38th at 9-over. Sophomore
Ben Sawaia tied for 47th at 13-over, while freshman
Aaron Jarvis finished tied for 48th at 16-over.
San Diego State started the day two shots off the lead of 36-hole leader Colorado State and the Aztecs were able to overtake the Rams for the Mountain West team title. SDSU won the championship at 22-under with a four-shot margin over runner-up CSU, with UNR taking third at 10-under, Boise State in fourth at 8-under and New Mexico in fifth at 3-under. CSU's Connor Jones was the wire-to-wire individual winner, edging out Boise State's Hugo Townsend by one stroke at 10-under. Townsend was runner-up at 9-under while four players were tied for third at 8-under.
The Rebels will wait to hear if their name is called on Wednesday, May 4 when NCAA Regional selections are announced live on the Golf Channel.
