SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's golf junior
Caden Fioroni finished in a tie for 17th place at the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Georgia State at the Mirabel Club (Par 70, 7,118 yards).
Fioroni, who paired his round two score with an identical 3-under 67 in Sunday's final round, ended the event at 7-under. He was one of just 20 golfers to shoot 7-under or better over the course of the tournament.
Tennessee's Caleb Surratt, who took the lead in round two, shot a 5-under to hold on for the individual win at 18-under 192. Florida State's Cole Anderson placed second at 13-under, followed by Auburn's Evan Vo and Georgia Tech's Connor Howe in a tie for third place at 15-under through 54 holes.
Auburn led the tournament from start to finish and claimed the team title at 45-under 795. Arizona State finished second at 40-under 800, FSU (-35) took third, Georgia Tech (-34) finished fourth and Washington (-31) placed fifth to round out the top-5. The Rebels finished 16th at 5-over.
UP NEXT: The Rebels return to action in Albuquerque, N.M. at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate scheduled to take place Friday-Saturday, Sept. 23-24.
