Ruiz Paces Rebels At Griak Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's cross country team completed the 36th annual Roy Griak Invitational during a cold and rainy Friday morning at Les Bolstad Golf Course. 

The Rebels competed against seven nationally ranked teams, two Mountain West foes and a total of 224 individuals in the women's Gold 6k event. 

Sophomore Natalia Ruiz had a solid race today, she led the Scarlet & Gray with a time of 22:02.1 which currently ranks 15th in the all-time program record book. She finished 59th, behind Houstin from North Dakota State with a time of 22:00.6 and Lucki from No. 23 Michigan State (22:00.2). 

Juniors Ellen Wise, LaKyla Yazzie and Isabella Schrader came out with season bests of 24:49.8, 25:53.2 and 26:22.5, respectively. 

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will hit the road for the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational held on Friday, October 7, hosted by Utah State.
