LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV won a singles matches on an overcast and then wet semifinal Saturday at the elite Freeman Memorial Championships being held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The 20th annual event features individual competitors from five teams ranked in the top 20 in the season's initial ITA rankings -- No. 8 Stanford, No. 10 Pepperdine, No. 13 Oklahoma State, No. 16 UCLA and No. 18 Florida – along with the host Rebels.
UNLV's
Aura Fang downed Caroline Goldberg of UCLA, 6-1, 6-2, to post the Rebels' lone victory on the day. Later in the day, doubles play was postponed because of a desert rain storm.
The final day of the Freeman starts Sunday with doubles being resumed at 10 a.m., followed by the finals in singles play. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
