Thursday Tailgate Kicks Off Soccer Doubleheaders This Week

Free food will be provided by the UNLV Soccer Foundation at 5 p.m. prior to Thursday's games

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – A free tailgate with food and drinks provided by the UNLV Soccer Foundation at 5 p.m. on Thursday will kick off a pair of UNLV men's and women's soccer doubleheaders this week at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

The four-game extravaganza begins Thursday with the Rebel women's soccer team's (6-3-5, 2-2-2) match vs. San Diego State (10-2-2, 5-0-1) at 6 p.m., followed by the Scarlet & Gray men's squad's (4-5-2, 2-1) game vs. Utah Tech (6-5, 2-1) at 8:30 p.m. 

On Sunday, the weekend's events will wrap up with UNLV women's soccer's facing New Mexico  at noon and men's soccer taking on Utah Valley at 2:30 p.m.

Fans can watch the matches live via the Mountain West Network for the women's games and WAC International TV for the men's matches. Game updates will also be provided at the women's soccer and men's soccer live stats links, as well as the official team Twitter (@UNLVwSoccer) and Instagram (@unlvwsoccer) accounts.

PROMOTIONS: Giveaways at the matches include a free Rebels bucket hat on Thursday and a free Rebel soccer drawstring bag on Sunday. The giveaway items will be available at the marketing table near the entrance while supplies last.

FREE TAILGATES: The UNLV Rebel Soccer Foundation will host two more tailgates with free food and drinks before the women's game vs. Boise State on Oct. 22 and the men's contest vs. Seattle on Oct. 29.

PURCHASE TICKETS: Single-game tickets to UNLV soccer games are $6 per adult when purchased in advance of game day, $10 at the door and free for UNLV students presenting a valid ID and kids in high school or younger. Purchase tickets at UNLVTickets.com or by calling 702-739-3267.

NEWS & NOTES:
  • The Scarlet & Gray men's and women's squad's each are coming off comeback wins Sunday to top off their road trips to Colorado.
  • On the men's side, the Rebels netted two goals in the final eight minutes as they fought back from a one-goal deficit to top Air Force, 2-1, their last time out.
  • In their last match, the UNLV women scored two unanswered goals of their own in the final 30 minutes at Colorado College to beat the Tigers, 2-1.
