SAUCIER, Miss. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's golf senior
Caden Fioroni climbed into the top 25 in the second round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate on Monday at Fallen Oak Golf Club (par 72, 7,487 yards).
Fioroni, who shot a team-best 1-over 73 on the day, moved into a tie for 24th at 3-over through 36 holes. The Scarlet & Gray day-two leader made par on a team-leading 13 holes for the round and paired that with two birdies on his front nine.
The remainder of the Rebel lineup includes senior
Yuki Moriyama (+6) in a tie for 34th, junior
Trevor Lewis (+7) and freshman
Hogan Park (+7) in a tie for 42nd and senior
Ben Sawaia (+8) in a tie for 50th. Sophomore
Brett Sawaia (+6), who is competing as an individual, is tied for 34th alongside Moriyama.
Also making a jump, No. 1 Auburn shot a 5-under to take over first place in the team standings at 11-under with a six-shot lead over No. 10 Mississippi (-5) in second. Ole Miss' Michael La Sasso, meanwhile, grabbed sole possession of the individual lead at 8-under for the tournament with a four-shot lead over SMU's Matthew Foster (-4) and the Bulldogs' Josep Serra (-4) in a two-way tie for second.
The Rebels (+21) look to improve upon its 10th-place standing going into the final 18 holes.
