Isabel Martin was recognized by the Mountain West on Monday morning, tabbing the Rebel outside hitter as the league's Offensive Player of the Week. This award marks Martin's second of the season and fourth of her UNLV career, last being honored on Sept. 18 alongside teammate
Caleigh King.
The Rebels went undefeated during the team's two-match week, pushing their win streak to three after the two home matches. UNLV topped Colorado State overcame a back-and-forth battle with the Rams to win in five sets during their first game, then dominated Wyoming in the second match of the week with a clean 3-0 sweep. The Scarlet & Gray moved to an overall record of 17-11 and 9-7 in Mountain West play heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Martin led the team with 48 kills during the two-game span, tying the UNLV single-game record against Colorado State with 34 kills in the Thursday match. The other 14 kills from the weekend came in the win over the Cowgirls, leading the team with over 52.5 points overall in the two matches. The redshirt senior's hitting efficiency was one of her best weekends this season, hitting .390 overall on 100 attempts with only committing 9 errors in the two games. Martin's offensive power helped lead UNLV to a dominant performance in both matches, the team hitting a combined .390 rate. She also tallied three service aces and one assist in the pair of matches.
Martin's impressive weekend was also one for the record books, moving into the program's top-10 all-time student-athletes for kills in a single season, moving up to fifth overall at 452 kills in 2023. She also eclipsed a personal milestone as well, notching over 2,000 career total attack attempts during her two-year career as a Rebel.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will look to close out the 2023 regular season with a few more wins to their record, taking the road to California. The Rebels will first face off against San Jose State on Tuesday, Nov. 14 starting at 6 p.m. PT in Spartan Gym.
